There are two great reasons to make a day trip to the town of Gentry located in NWA. If you are looking for something fun to do - travel over and make two stops: The Gentry Wildlife Wilderness Drive Through Safari and the Wooden Spoon for lunch!
The Safari is open at 9 every day and the suggested hours to visit are from 10-3. There is a drive through portion and a petting zoo portion. It's $10 for ages 13 and up and $8 for ages 3-12.
It is a 400 acre safari that is full of all kinds of animals you don't expect to see living in our corner of the world - zebras, lions, tigers and bears!
The animals will come right up to your car window which is fun for kids and adults alike!
My daughter's favorite thing was the petting zoo and seeing the monkeys up close! This is a great way to spend the day as a family or maybe a date day!

If you come during the week - your next stop should be the Wooden Spoon. This is a restaurant that you will be glad you found! They only serve lunch during the week and dinner is only on Friday nights. It's always packed and you will find out why quickly. They are known for their amazing desserts - homemade pies and cobblers and for homemade bread. They serve a good variety of homestyle food and sandwiches and soups.
Friday night is all you can eat catfish night and the wait can be long but worth it. It's located on Hwy 59 in Gentry and you can check out their website here: http://woodenspoongentry.com
