Matt Turner is a co-anchor for KNWA at five, six and ten each weeknight. The Arkansas native joined the KNWA team in August of 2003 as a sports anchor and reporter. Turner caught the eye of management while reporting from Little Rock during the Nolan Richardson race discrimination trial. He also covered several other news events, including a tornado that ripped through Northwest Arkansas in March of 2006. During his time with the Razorback Nation sports team, Turner anchored throughout the week for KNWA and KARK. He also helped produce and report for “The Pigtrail”, a 40-minute show on Sunday nights. Matt was responsible for numerous exclusive interviews and breaking news stories. Turner was born and raised in Arkadelphia, Arkansas but left the state he loves after high school to play football for the University of Southern Mississippi. After one year in Hattiesburg, he transferred back to his hometown to play quarterback for the Ouachita Baptist University Tigers. Once he gave up athletics, Turner began working the sidelines on radio and television. He did play-by-play and color commentary for Arkadelphia High School and OBU sports along with hosting a weekly coaches TV show and writing for the local newspaper. Turner also interned at Hooten’s Arkansas Football Magazine and KATV in Little Rock before earning a degree in Mass Communications. Matt says he and his wife, Julee, love living in Northwest Arkansas and they look forward to meeting as many viewers as possible. Matt can be reached by email at mturner@knwa.com |
