a. How long have they been in the business. b. What licenses and designations do they have. c. What is their investment philosophy. d. What products and services do they offer. e. Have they worked with people like me before. f. What is my experience going to be like as a client-- How many times can I expect to be contacted each year? How many face to face meetings can I expect? g. How does the consultant get paid-- Is it per hour, commission, fee only or a combination of those mentioned. 2) When should an individual or couple contact and meet with a Financial Consultant? Any time that there is a major life event is a good time to contact a Financial Consultant. These events include marriage, new addition to the family, divorce, death of close family member, job change or job loss, receiving an inheritance, or retirement. The reason it is important to contact a Financial Consultant during these times is because these events are very stressful and people have a tendency to be emotional during these times. It is never a good idea to be making decisions about finances when you are emotional. A Financial Consultant can help you make prudent decisions during these times. |
