Local state representatives weigh in on federal gun laws and the President Obama's executive order.

Out of eight local representatives five have responded.

Four, including Bob Ballinger, Charlie Collins, Randy Alexander and Micah S. Neal, say they are against any legislation banning guns.

One representative, Greg Leding said an executive order would over-power any state legislation,  and that he'd like to see more focus on mental health needs.

Here's what folks in Northwest Arkansas said on the matter.

"You know I think it's a good thing to return the rights to the states and the local communities and let them make the decisions for themselves," Fayetteville Firearms owner, Andrew Berry said.

"I think we should follow the European countries, you know, their police force doesn't use guns, and their civilians don't have guns. I mean I know that their stabbing statistics are higher but you know at least they're not walking into schools and hosing down children and people in movie theaters."

"You know I think it's a good thing to return the rights to the states and the local communities and let them make the decisions for themselves."

"If they're gonna ban guns that going against the second amendment and if you break the foundation of America then the whole thing will probably come crumbling down eventually."

"The is Arkansas people are going to have guns, I myself hunt and you can't just take away that."

"All the gun owners shouldn't be punished by what  some crazy people do."
