In the absence of Governor Mike Beebe, Lt. Governor Mark Darr signed Senate Bill 131 into law today, protecting the records of people with concealed-carry licenses.
The Bill, introduced by Senator Bruce Holland and others, was sent to the Governor's desk Tuesday after easily passing the House and Senate.
The bill contains a clause stating that once it is signed, the State of Arkansas can no longer publicly release records concerning people licensed to carry a concealed handgun or those applying for the license.
In a statement, Darr adds, "The release of such records is an invasion of privacy and threatens the safety and property of the persons identified."
The law goes into effect immediately.
