Chiropractic Care for Babies

Proponents say the adjustments can treat a variety of maladies, including infantile colic, moodiness, digestive issues and balance. Local mothers share their testimony of ear infections and birth complications that were managed through minor manipulations.
The American Academy of Pediatrics states more thorough studies need to be completed to determine if these treatments could lead to serious injury in the future. But recent findings in the journal Pediatrics show inconclusive findings.
Local chiropractor Dr. Robert Benningfield says his personal experience as a new father changed his views of treating children. He has adjusted thousands of young patients during his practice and says he has never seen an injury or symptom go unfixed.
Benningfield says parents need to educate themselves on the topic and choose a reputable chiropractic office.
