Razorback Stadium Expansion Plan Moves Forward

Plans to expand the north end zone of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium took a step forward Friday.

The University Athletic Department announced the Board of Trustees' approval of a cost analysis study to determine the viability of the proposed expansion.

Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Jeff Long says, "The market and cost analysis will provide us specific details and estimates that will enable us to make a fully informed decision on a potential expansion of the north end zone. It is imperative that we consider the many variables involved in the project, including the potential cost of an expansion and what type of additional seating would best accommodate the current and future demand of our fans."

The cost analysis will examine the variables of the expansion including seating capacity, design, construction and future demand for additional seating.

If the expansion is found to be a viable project, the decision will go back to the Board of Trustees for approval before the project actually begins.

Athletic revenues, gifts and bonds will provide the funds for the cost analysis and the project.

No University funds will be used.
