If you're not using your smartphone when you pay for your next meal out - then you're doing it all wrong.

First lesson of the day: That little gadget you can't go anywhere without can save you lots of money - if you know where to look.

See a QR code in your favorite restaurant?  Well, you can scan that code into your smartphone.  (It takes a QR code reader - more information
HERE and HERE.)   And it takes you right where you need to be.

The app usually asks you to give some info...
They'll usually ask you to give some info...and you'll get something nice in return.

Armed with your smart phone and a few bucks - you can dine on a discount all day long. But you have to have the right tools.  Like the
qBot app.  It gives coupons for businesses all across Northwest Arkansas.  Some places like Fresco in Fayetteville offer as much as 50% off.

But there are a few rules, varying by location.  Like discounts not including alcohol or limits to how many can be used at once.

With an app called
Punchh - the more the merrier!!!  It's a loyalty program so you come to Burger Life or other participants and get rewarded for repeat visits.

And how it keeps track is nothing short of space age - and weird.  You take a picture of you receipt - the app does the rest.

But maybe loyalty's not your thing. If you want something that's one and done the
Restaurant.com app is for you.

This app takes a little pre-planning. Similar to sites like Groupon or Living Social, you go ahead a buy a gift certificate at a discounted price and you'll need to print it out and bring it with you to dinner.

Insider Tip: When you're finished with your deliciously cheap meal, don't forget to tip on the full price not the discounted total. Waiters will love you for it and the business will keep up those coupons coming.
