The Razorback Nation's Adam Alter traveled to Nevada to talk with the legendary Hayden Fry about Bret Bielema's days as a player and an assistant coach under him at Iowa.

Fry recalled being unimpressed with the physical stature of Bielema, a walkon from tiny Prophetstown, Illinois. Fry said he told Beilema that he did not carry enough weight to make the playing field for a Big 10 team. However, his attitude quickly changed as Bielema defiantly announced that if Fry would give him a chance he would prove the Hawkeyes head coach wrong.

This is part one of a series of reports Alter will file after meeting with the retired Fry in his home in Mesquite, Nevada.
