Pitching carried the team to Omaha in 2012 and its virtually all back for an encore.
"We're all fighting for innings right now," junior preseason All-American Colby Suggs says. "We're all trying to prove that we're the guy that can go out and do it."
"This publication has this guy preseason All-American this guy the first or second player taken in the draft," pitching coach Dave Jorn elaborated. "The biggest thing is just focusing in on the game and taking it one pitch at a time because all we want to do it win," preseason SEC pitcher of the year Ryne Stanek said.
A deep and talented pitching staff projects to be one of the best in the nation for 2013, however success this year will likely be defined by what the Diamond Hogs can do at the plate.
"I like the way its shaping up so far," head coach Dave Van Horn said. "The pitching our guys are seeing everyday in scrimmages, it's almost like they can't wait to face someone else."
2012 redshirts Eric Fisher and Tyler Spoon along with Freshman Willy Schwanke expect to add some pop to a retooled lineup bent on passing the bench mark the team reached just one year ago.
"(The desire to win a national title) will be there until I win one, then we''ll want to go win another one just as bad, we can't get to Omaha today we've just got to keep getting better throughout the season and give ourselves a chance," Van Horn concluded.
Arkansas opens the season Friday, February 15th at home against Western Illinois.
