Huntsville Teen Dies Weeks After Car Accident

A Huntsville teen has died from injuries she sustained in an accident that happened early this month.
Arkansas State Police say 17-year-old Erika M. Slate died Tuesday afternoon at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
The accident happened just after 10:30 p.m. on the night of March 1st, according to the accident report.
The driver, Timothy Fort, was Southbound on Hwy 45 in Madison County and drove off the west side of the road as he attempted to negotiate a curve to the left.
The report says Fort hit a ditch and became airborne then rotated clockwise before striking a tree.

Fort and another passenger, Jeffery Mason, were both injured and taken to Mercy hospital in Springfield, MO.
The accident report says it was snowing at the time of the accident and the road was wet.
