City Outlaws Leaving Your Car Running

By: Amanda Ashley
Updated: January 2, 2013
Warming up your car and walking away is illegal in Kansas City, Missouri.

A little-known ordinance states no one can leave a car running unattended. Officials say it's too tempting for thieves and they don't want to waste manpower looking for another stolen car.

"It's an officer discretion thing, but with one out of five cars being stolen when the car's running, they're going to do some enforcement."

The ordinance does not mention remote starters, but according to officials, those also apply.
Offenders will be ticketed.
