Updated: January 25, 2013
The Bentonville School Board President has announced he will leave the board.

Travis Riggs told the members at Thursday's school board meeting, citing scheduling conflicts. According to Mary Ley with the district, February will be his last meeting. Riggs announced his intention to resign after the board voted to move all meetings from 11:30 to 5:00p.m.

Ley says the search to replace him will begin as early next week. They will have a link for community members from Ward 5, Riggs' ward, to apply.  Board members will review the applicants and appoint for the interim position.  They will also appoint a member to serve as president.  Ley says they would like to have the new interim member in place by the March meeting.

The next school board election will take place in November.
