Two businesses are taking over KNWA's old spot on the Fayetteville Square.

The owners are hard at work this week, transforming the space into Block Street's newest retailers.

The Independent: Denim & Essentials is still a work in progress, but the owners plan to bring exclusive clothing lines to the college town in the same spot KNWA's cameras rolled for twelve years.

"It has that kind of studio vibe that we were looking for," says Judson Lee. "We have a whole block of retail here and it's cool. It's a real resurgence for the square I think."

Terra Tots Natural Parenting is also setting up shop, turning the former newsroom into a classroom for newborn and parenting classes, and filling the old control room with toys, clothes and anything else a new parent might need.

"I think that people are going to be coming here to shop and thinking about Block Street and downtown as where they're going to go to make their purchases and shop local," says Jennifer Creel.
