A Lowell woman will spend the next eight years in jail after police say she poisoned her mother's food with floor polish last summer. Police say 24-year-old Leah Stevens was kicked out of her mother's home last summer. She later told police she wanted to get back at her mom because of it. After the mother received a tip from another sibling, she brought a Lowell police officer to her house where they found open containers of food and bleach. Stevens was found guilty for a criminal mischief misdemeanor and a class C felony for attempted domestic battery. A judge sentenced her to eight years in jail for the crime last week.
