Fayetteville Police arrested a Springdale man Tuesday for breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, beating her and her roommate and stabbing another man.
Police say they were called to an apartment on N. Valley Lake Sunday morning for a report of a disturbance.
They learned a man, identified as 26-year-old Robert Matthews, forced his way into the apartment by kicking in the door.
According to an arrest report Matthews went to the apartment to confront his ex-girlfriend and another man inside.
The woman told police Robert had called multiple times that morning before ariving at the apartment. She told them once he kicked the door down, he entered the apartment and began punching her in the face.
Police were able to see the woman's eye was swollen and that she was bleeding on her hands, she says, because she wrestled with Matthews as he held the knife.
According to the arrest report, after punching the female victim, Matthews then went to confront the male in the apartment.
The male stabbing victim told police Matthews grabbed a knife from the kitchen and swung it at him several times, cutting him on the left arm. The victim then ran from the apartment to find help. He told police he had never met Matthews before.
Another female roommate in the apartment called 911, according to the arrest report, before also being punched in the mouth by Matthews. He then took her phone, but answered it when the woman called her own phone later.
During that call, police say Matthews made threatening comments towards the victims.
On Tuesday, Matthews met with police in reference to the incident but declined to make any statements without an attorney.
Matthews was placed under arrest. He faces two charges of aggravated assault, one charge of aggravated residential burglary and one charge of terroristic threatening.
