The weather may be chilly but the dry and windy conditions have left parts of Northwest Arkansas at risk for fire.

Earlier this week, the Washington County Sheriff's Office has issued a red flag warning for the county.  Now Springdale has followed suit, with the fire department notifying folks the city is also under a warning.  The Fire Marshall said they discourage any outside burning until conditions improve.

During a red flag warning threat of fire is high.

"Fires will start and spread rapidly. Every fire has the potential to become large, and will be difficult to control. Expect extreme and erratic fire behavior. Outside burning during this period should be avoided if at all possible," according to the Fire Marshall.

The latest Drought Monitor (click here) shows severe drought conditions still cover large portions of the Natural State.
