"It's a cool small town," says Siloam Springs business owner Chris Moore.

A small town looking to get bigger.

"We want to make Siloam Springs a really easy place to do business in," says Communications Director for the city of Siloam Springs, Holland Hayden.

So the city plans to eliminate an expense.

One that's been in place for entrepenuers since 1951.

"Take away the fee for business licenses," Hayden says.

"Which is going to help any business trying to start or even renewing business licenses."

Moore opened Pour Jon's Coffee Shop a couple years ago, and he says this is just another example of the city stepping up.

"Every little bit helps," Moore says.

"There's a lot of money, fees, taxes you have to pay."

Currently Siloam Springs is home to nearly 800 businesses, but city officials hope this new action will take them closer to the 1,000 mark.

We're inviting more businesses into town just so we can have a stronger population here, to keep all the dollars here," Hayden says.

"Northwest Arkansas is a great place but we want to make sure everyone knows about Siloam Springs."

Doing away with this ordinance won't become official until it passes at the next city council meeting, potentially making room for more money to flow in Siloam Springs.
"It's really gotten good and vibrant, it just gets better every year," Moore says.
"There's still a lot of empty spaces for a few other little businesses."
