In the most recent Skyline Report, in the second quarter of 2006, over 500,000 square feet of competitive commercial property were added to the Northwest Arkansas Market. But what`s interesting is that over 80% of that new space is not located in Washington County, but in Bentonville and Rogers instead.
Tim Conklin is the Director of Planning and Development with the city of Fayetteville. He says the numbers are going up for Fayetteville and it`s important to look at the bigger picture.
"As we continue to see the census numbers come in and the significant population growth, we`re going to continue to see an increase in retail and support type services and residential growth throughout this region. In this community, we`re very blessed that growth is not isolated in just one area."
Conklin mentions significant growth in downtown Fayetteville, with an 18-story condo and a hotel approved, the Divinity project, condo`s on the east side of the square...as well as growth around Steele Crossing with the latest addition-- Starbuck`s.
