Bret Bolinger - Storm Spotter

By: Dan Skoff
Updated: May 29, 2012

Bret Bolinger joined the KNWA / FOX 24 Storm Spotter Team in August 2009. He is a Amateur Radio Operator (callsign KE5CLW) holding a General class license. Bret was first licensed back in 2004 as a Technicician class operator. He is also a videographer and photographer, and he enjoys documenting storms using a camcorder, and a camera, as well as streaming live video from the field during severe weather coverage.

Growing up in Madison County, Bret has lived in Northwest Arkansas all his life and moved to Springdale in 1991. He has tried numerous ways to give back to the community, and has found chasing storms is the perfect fit. "Getting out the warning of potential life-threatening weather is very important to me, which is why I spot storms. It's all about the safety and welfare of the people of Northwest Arkansas. Helping people in times of good and bad gives me a sense of satisfaction."
