Jon Fitch, 56, was elected to the state House in 1979. He remained there until his election to the state Senate in 1985, where he stayed until 2002.
For 18 years, Fitch was a member of the Agriculture and Economic Development Committee. He operates a farm and cattle operation in Madison County near Hindsville.
The Livestock and Poultry Commission was created in 1963. Fitch`s father - Rolla Fitch - was the commission`s first director.
