The police chief of Elm Springs has resigned. Ken Martin cited health reasons when handing in his resignation to the towns mayor this week, but Martin had already been suspended from his position after an arrest for driving while intoxicated. Earlier this month the then chief was pulled over by an Arkansas State Trooper for weaving his vehicle in and out of lanes. According to reports Martin smelled like alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. An interim chief has been appointed and KNWA is told by the department that the man will be missed.
