Welcome to Paris, Arkansas...Population: Three thousand, seven hundred and seven...where people say they feel pretty safe.
"I love this little town and I feel very safe" - Dorothy Rogers
"As far as the crime around here, its relatively non-existent" - Rick Larson
But what some people may not know...theres only one police officer on duty every night. Paris Alderman Edye White, from the Chamber of Commerce, told the Paris Express paper:
"Weve got problems all over this town. We dont have enough police officers, and Im not going to shut up about it"
Today, when we asked her about it, she refused to comment.
The Mayor says hes considering adding another officer, but that an addition would be expensive.
"It costs about fifty-sixty thousand dollars to hire a police officer, and thats including car and everything"
So until someone makes a decision, the night watch in Paris will remain a one-man-band.
