After a cable installer discovered a major water leak at the woman’s home, she contacted the Bella Vista Water Department. At the time, she’d only suffered a 12,000 gallon loss. However, she was told that no financial aid could be given to her until she suffered a loss of 35,000 gallons. To her, that seemed to encourage wasting more water after discovering the leak just to receive the aid in paying her bill. However, that point became moot after a few more days because pretty soon the total loss reached the 125,000 gallons. She says the water department is working with her to get her bill paid, but she hopes something can be done by the city to catch major water leaks before too much water is wasted.
