A fire ripped through a house in Fayetteville Monday morning, injuring one man and destroying the families home. Patricia Polk, Neighbor: "That little building next to the house was just roaring with fire, just smoke everywhere." Neighbors described the scene Monday morning on East 7th Street in Fayetteville. Around 8:30 AM Neighbor Pat Jackson saw smoked and flames shooting out of #457. She also noticed a car in the driveway. Pat Jackson, Neighbor: "I banged on the door. I didn`t have presence of mind to say fire. I`m just banging on the door wake up, wake up." Sleeping inside was Gustavo Casco. He quickly attempted to douse the flames with a garden hose and suffered 1st degree burns. Fortunately four other members of his family were not home. Fayetteville`s engine and ladder crews arrived on the scene within minutes. Cpt. Mark Stevens, Fayetteville Fire Dept: "We had fire visible on the deck, patio and fire up the side of the house and smoke showing from the roof." Jackson: "Once the little structure went up it spread to the house." Polk: "It was really going, it was really really going." More engine crews arrived bringing the total to five which gave the firefighters fresh manpower. Officials say the cause appears to be accidental and electrical. The family says the small shed next to the house had a jacuzzi tub that wasn`t working. But the shed was wired for electricity and lighting. Most of the families belongings were saved. The Red Cross was assisting but other family members were going to take the Casco`s in Monday night. The City Fire Marshal continues to investigate.
