Those big declines on Wall Street Friday brought the bargain buyers out Monday.
Also, news that Ford Motor Company would cut nearly 30,000 jobs and close more than a dozen U.S. Plants helped bolster trade.
The Dow added +21.38 (+0.20%) to close at 10,688.77. The NASDAQ added +0.77 (+0.03%) to finish at 2,248.47 and the S&P 500 added +2.33 (+0.18%) to finish at 1,263.82.
Stocks of local interest posted positive figures on the session. JB Hunt (JBHT) added +1.18% to close at $22.32. Tyson Foods (TSN) added +1.42% to finish at $16.48. Acxiom (ACXM) added +2.29% to close at $23.63 and Wal-Mart (WMT) added +0.56% to finish at $45.25.
Today, we have no economic figures to look at. We do have quite a few earnings reports to consider.
We`ll see numbers from 3M, Dupont, Johnson and Johnson, McDonalds, Northrop Grumman and Sun Microsystems among dozens of others.
Overseas in Asia last night, the Nikkei rose %1.5 at the mid-day break in Tokyo.
Back in the U.S., in extended hours trading, the NASDAQ 100 Afterhours Indicator fell -1.27 (-0.08%) to close the night at 1,675.03.
