Updated: April 17, 2007
The Benton County Sheriff`s Office has released the name of a woman found dead in Beaver Lake. Detectives say they have positively identified the body of 58 year old Linda Diane Hickey. Investigators say Hickey, a white female, had been living in Northwest Arkansas for the past 3 months. She had recently moved from Texas, which explains the Texas tags on the white Honda Civic found in the Lost Bridge South parking lot near her body. Cpt. Mike Sydoriak, BCSO CID Division: "The vehicle belongs to her son but apparently he let her drive it. A son that lives down in Texas." That vehicle was later towed. Detectives say Hickey was last seen leaving work on Thursday from Wal-Mart`s general office in Bentonville. They know she left about 12pm. The Benton County Sheriff`s Office first learned that a body was floating on the lake Friday afternoon after witnesses called in. A dive team searched the area and forensic evidence was collected. But detectives need the public`s help in a case thats still being treated as a potential homicide. Sydoriak: "We`re asking anybody thats been out to the swim area in the past couple of days that might have seen the car out there, to give us a call." You can reach the sheriff`s office by calling (479) 273-5532. Hickey`s body was taken to the state crime lab in Little Rock for an autopsy.
