Investors didn`t have much reason to spend money -- we heard good things about Alcoa and General Motors -- and that managed to do some good, at least on the Dow.
We still saw mixed numbers.
The Dow added +4.65 (+0.04%) to close at 10,798.27. The NASDAQ lost -3.78 (-0.17%) to finish at 2,258.80 and the S&P 500 added +0.99 (+0.08%) to finiss at 1,265.02.
Local stocks split the session. Tyson Foods (TSN) lost -1.40% to close at $14.10. JB Hunt (JBHT) added +1.72% to close at $23.65. Acxiom (ACXM) added +1.30% to close at $24.11 and Wal-Mart (WMT) lost -0.90% to close at $45.08.
IIn terms of economic figures out today -- we`lll see one -- Consumer Credit for the month of December.
We had no economic numbers out Monday.
In earnings -- we`ll see numbers from Cisco Systems and Coca-Cola today.
Overseas in asia last night, the Nikkei added +0.1% to reach 16,757.42 at the mid-day break in Tokyo. The broader Topix added +0.2%.
Back in the U.S., in extended hours trading, the NASDAQ 100 Afterhours indicator rose +1.03 (+0.06%) to close the night at 1,658.57.
