We saw jobless claims hit a six year low...posting only a slight increase.
We saw strong earnings from Best Buy and from Aetna..yet, investors still seemed worried about bigger things and about longer term economic stability.
We saw the Dow do OK, gaining +24.73 (+0.23%) to close at 10,883.35. The NASDAQ lost -11.11 (-0.49%) to close at 2,225.87 and the S&P 500 lost -1.87 (-0.15%) to finish at 1,263.78.
Local stocks posted mostly positive figures. Tyson Foods (TSN) added +2.69% to close at $14.52. JB Hunt (JBHT) added +0.63% to finish at $23.92. Acxiom (ACXM) lost -0.49% to close at $24.24. Wal-Mart added +0.66% to finish at $45.70.
In terms of economic figures today, we`ll see the December Trade Balance and the January Trade budget.
We`ll have no major component earnings reports out today -- we`ve managed to make through most of earnings season.
Overseas in Asia last night, the Nikkei lost -1.1% to reach 16,266.69 at the mid-day break in Tokyo.
Back in the U.S., in extended hours trading, the NASDAQ 100 Afterhours Indicator rose +0.15 (+0.01%) to close the night at 1,654.23.
