Water isn`t the lifeblood at the Maaysville Fire Department, fuel is. Without it, the vehicles can`t get to the fires. Although, for one fire they didn`t have to go far. A six thousand dollar donation has replenished a fuel budget burned up by a rash of fires.
Fire Chief Jesse Thomas says, "I`m really greatful. The folks from the Neighborhood Market in Bentonville and the pharmacy division stepped in and brought me a couple checks. I really apreciate it."
Chief Thomas says his 17 volunteers have fough dozens of arswon fiures in the last two months, many in the early morning hours. Right now, authorities have no idea who is responsible. Fields have been burned and structures too. thomas hopes the recent rains can slow down whoever is responsible.
Chief Thomas says, "This is a sick person to be setting all these fire. I can understand two or maybe even three here and there over time. But this has gone on for too long a period of time."
