Now that the storm has passed, the community has come together for a major cleanup under the direction of the Benton County Department of Emergency Management.
The department works as a coordinator, putting various agencies in touch with each other. Department officials say things are running smoother than expected.
Officials say street crews had cleared debris from most roads by Monday afternoon. According to department officials, much of the reason there were no fatalities after the tornado has to do with disaster education.
Two types of disaster assistance is available to tornado victims by the Department of Emergency Management. Temporary housing assistance and an individual and family grant program. For more information or to apply call 877-828-3362.
