Two Teens Killed in ATV Accident

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
The Washington County Sheriff`s Department got the call at 4:08 p.m. Saturday afternoon to Ed Edwards Road-- which is right outside the Fayetteville city limits. There, 15-year-old Justin Williams and 14-year-old Lacy Elkins were found dead at the scene after a four-wheeler accident. Family and friends arrived not long after the authorities, and for them-- the situation was too hard to take in. Authorities tell us that Justin lived on Ed Edwards Road and he had been riding all day. Friends of Justin say he had only had that four-wheeler for one week. Justin`s friend, Lacy, joined him later Saturday afternoon. Authorities say Lacy and Justin had not even been riding for five minutes when they lost control of the four-wheeler on a curve-- hit the shoulder embankment-- and then ran into a tree. Justin was a tenth grader at Elkins High School. He was a member of the football team and also ran track. Lacy attended Randall G. Lynch Middle School in Farmington and she was in the eighth grade. Right now, the sheriff`s department tells us it is being ruled as an accident. Neither Justin nor Lacy had on a helmet.
