As expected, the Federal Open Market Committee -- chaired for the first time by Ben Bernanke -- hiked the overnight lending rate a quarter point to %4.75. Perhaps unexpected? We saw the Dow lose -95.57 (-0.85%) to close at 11,154.54. The NASDAQ lost -11.12 (0.48%) to finish at 2,304.46. The S&P 500 lost -8.38 (-0.64%) to close at 1,293.23.
