Thousands Attend Rally in Springdale

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
They turned the park into a sea of white t-shirts and American flags. Some would say mexico is their home, others were from countries in South America. But thousands hope this rally, and others like it will show Washington how much they want to become Americans. Al Lopez, the popular radio personality Papa Rap says, " I spoke to Senator Mark Pryor yesterday and he said the thousands of people gathering are doing so in a peaceful way. And that is getting the attention of the lawmakers." For the politicians and the organizers, the size of the crowds will be hard to ignore. For Alma Martinez, being in America means her children won`t have to dog in the trash to find food. Martinez says, "I want to stay. I want to make a better life for myself and my children. Why would we want to go back to Mexico, there is no reason to come back there."
