Divinity Hotel: One Step Closer

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
The Divinity Hotel on Dickson Street was initially considered too tall, now the developers have another proposal. Originally the Divinity Hotel was going to be 15 stories, now they`ve chopped it down to 10. The Divinity Hotel is being developed by the Barber Group. Their initial proposal left many residents and the subdivision committee concerned about the height. After two weeks of working on a fresh design, their new vision now involves 10 stories with 137 rooms. Seven condos were taken out to accommodate the smaller size. Brandon Barber says it`s important to keep re-inventing Fayetteville to keep folks heading this way, "Today is the entertainment capital. We`ve got to embrace that in Fayetteville before whats obviously happening in Benton County." Barber says its not only good for the social aspect but for the city as well. About 600 thousand dollars will be paid in property taxes. The revised plan will go the Planning Commission this Monday. Barber also hinted at another hotel project they are working on. He says its a branded hotel not yet in the state of Arkansas. They will be announcing the details in a little over a month. The Divinity Hotel will also include a patio on the top for the public to enjoy.
