The initiative, called the Arkansas Regional Quality Improvement Program, will explore the use of shared data between Medicaid and other health plans, providers and purchasers as a way to coordinate quality improvement strategies. Officials believe this coordination can help improve patient outcomes and reduce health care costs.
The Arkansas Regional Quality Improvement Program will be led by Dr. William E. Golden, AFMC`s vice president for clinical quality improvement. Initial collaborating stakeholders also include the Arkansas State Employees Insurance Plan, QualChoice, the Arkansas Medical Society, and the Arkansas Hospital Association.
Only two states, Arkansas and Rhode Island, have been selected to participate in the two-year Regional Quality Improvement Program. Both states will receive a grant of up to $200,000, along with ongoing technical assistance and evaluation support from CHCS.
