As part of a senior design project in the University of Arkansas`s Biological Engineering Department, a team of students designed a football helmet that can monitor a players body temperature. Matt Graham, John Leach, And James McCarty developed a wireless temperature monitoring system that is embedded into the padding of the football helmet to records a player`s temporal artery temperature. The device then relays it in real time to a digital receiver on a computer. That data can then be read in real time by staff on the football team or other health professionals.
