A Fort Smith teen is charged with first degree battery after, police say, he stabbed his mother.

Police arrived at Village Meadows Apartments on Meandering Way around 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, following 911 call.

They found a 55-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds sitting on her porch. The victim told police her son had stabbed her.  She said she was having a difficult time getting him up for school and that on a final visit to his room, she "engaged in a discussion with him regarding his sexual orientation due to questionable dress habits."  According to police reports, her son grabbed a knife from under his pillow and began stabbing her.

The victim received approximately seventeen stab wounds to her face and hands. The kitchen knife that police believe to have been used was found inside the teens bedroom.

Her son, 18-year-old Brian Duvall was arrested following questioning.  He is facing first degree battery charges and is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond..

The victim has been transported to a local hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
