A local garden is growing, thanks to the help of volunteers.
Folks got their hands dirty Saturday morning at Walker Park in Fayetteville, expanding the community garden by adding mulch, compost and soil to create new plots and pathways.
People can buy then buy the plots and plant fruits and vegetables.
Organizers say these gardens help build the community.
"They help to provide a safe environment for neighbors to come together, meet each other, learn about gardening, grow their own food, hopefully it will help them supplement their groceries" says horticulturist Lisa Netherland.
Volunteers created about forty new plots in the garden Saturday.
