Updated: April 17, 2007
19-year-old Yreena Eguia died after a shooting early Saturday at the Links at Springdale apartment complex. Investigators believe the victim`s boyfriend pulled the trigger, and Sunday night arrested 20-year-old Akaphong Somee at a home in Ft. Smith. Investigators say Somee-- believed to be Eguia`s boyfriend, shot her after the two got into some type of heated argument. Officers say the couple were staying with friends at the apartments. Eguia died about two hours later at Northwest Medical Center. Somee fled after the shooting but police say they were able to track him by his cell phone. Ft. Smith officers say Somee tried to run and attack officers with a bottle when they approached him. He now faces charges of resisting arrest. Somee also had a warrant out for his arrest from Las Vegas for charges of robbery and kidnapping. Somee will first face charges in Ft. Smith and then be sent up to Washington County to face charges in Eguia`s murder.
