Denton Sachs joined the KNWA / FOX 24 Storm Spotter Team in early 2008. Growing up in Elkins, his interest in weather was sparked by the April 21, 1996 Fort Smith, Arkansas F3 tornado. Seeing the devastation first hand impacted him for the rest of his life. Denton witnessed the damage mere minutes after the twister struck, traveling from one subdivision to the other, while witnessing people's homes and lives that were torn apart in seconds. He decided from that point on that he wanted to be part of the warning process.
Striving to become a broadcast meteorologist, Denton visited the KNWA/FOX24 weather center at the age of 16. Studying and mentoring under Dan Skoff and senior chasers of the KNWA/FOX24 team, Denton now a professional media weather contractor with SevereStudios.com sites his position to years of learning on both a personal level and through mentorships.
Taking a different career choice after college, Denton now lives in Texarkana, TX working in system protection and control for American Electric Power. Not limited by his geographical location, he will often make the trek to Northwest Arkansas hours before a severe weather event. In the time when he is not chasing Mother Nature's worst, Denton is involved in portrait photography, numerous microwave and Doppler radar experimentation, and broadcast/production graphic design. Denton is also a forecaster for a local TV station in Texarkana, producing weather graphics and delivering daily weather presentations.
