A culinary team of high school students is cooking to raise money to compete in a national competition.

Northwest Arkansas Community College's Pro-Start Culinary Team includes kids from Bentonville and Pea-ridge High Schools.

The team took the top prize in a state competition, and needs cash to travel and compete in the nationals.

To win the kids must create a three-course meal using only two butane burners.

"You have to get very creative," says Rebecca Liles, the chef in charge of the team. "We have ovens that we make out of cast iron skillets and all kinds of very resourceful ways that we get our menus created."

The kids prepared their award winning menu at the Northwest Arkansas Center for Nonprofits Thursday night.
