Springdale teachers are now being rewarded for their innovative classroom ideas.

The Springdale Education Association raised $20,000 this year--all given out to teachers who applied for extra supplies in the classroom.

There were 22 grants given out at 21 different schools across the district for everything from woodworking to funding high school buddy programs.

In the past, if teachers wanted to try something new, Communications Director Rick Schaffer says they would have to pay out of their own pocket.

Now the Springdale Education Association can fulfill some of those needs, but this year they only provided $20,000 of the $75,000 in grant requests.

This was the Association's first year and they hope to provide even more grants next year.
