Investigator Jeremy Felton of the Benton County Sheriff's Office says an autopsy on Lance Duffy's body confirmed the 22-year-old shot himself two times.
"There was actually abrasion marks from the gun on his chest and stomach where he'd held it up," Felton says.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office released dashcam video that shows Madison County deputies confronting Duffy on Wednesday morning, just hours after Rogers police say he shot Corporal Jeff Pollock.
"Any time someone like that gets away we're going to do everything we can to try to find the person ans soon as possible," Felton says.
The video shows Duffy trying to escape and hitting the deputies' cars as they boxed him in on High Sky Inn Road. The video does not have sound, but one deputy reported hearing two gunshots inside the car.
"They got out of their vehicles, they drew down on the suspect, asked him to show his hands," Felton says. "His hands came up briefly and they said his right arm went down and he just kind of slumped over."
Investigators found a .357 magnum on the passenger floorboard, as well as some swords, knives and some k-2.
Although this isn't the outcome law enforcement wanted, Madison County Sheriff Phillip Morgan says he is glad no one else was hurt. He has reviewed the video with his deputies and hopes it will help them stay safe in the future.
