The family of a Bentonville teen killed in a car crash has filed a lawsuit against the other driver, his employer and a seat belt manufacturer.

The fatal accident happened last September,  between exits 85 and 86 in the Rogers-Bentonville area.

ASP reports Kendall Riggins, 37, was getting on 540 heading south when he merged into the left lane, causing another car, driven by Sara Symons, 18, to veer into the median,

The report says when Symons came back on the highway, she sideswiped Riggins and both vehicles ended up in the northbound traffic lanes.

On Monday, in a press release from their lawyers, the Symons Family named Riggins and his employer Lindsey & Associates in the lawsuit.  Riggins, who was driving a car advertising Lindsey, was cited for careless and prohibited driving at the time of the accident, according to the release.

The family has also filed a suit against Chrysler and Honeywell, the manufacturer of Sara's seat belt.  According to the release, a forensic investigation revealed her seat belt had failed during the crash.  The original police report stated Symons wasn't wearing a seat belt.  Her car flipped several times and she was ejected.
