In the battleground state of Ohio Monday, Mitt Romney accused the president of steering the United States across the Atlantic.

"He's taking America on a path towards Europe, and Europe's not working there - it's not going to
work here. Europe's in real trouble," Romney told supporters.

Two days after President Obama formally kicked of his re-election campaign new national polls show the race virtually tied.

Romney is up by 1% in a survey of swing state voters by politico, while President Obama is ahead by two points in a similar poll by USA Today and Gallup.

The president is making his case for re-election in a rare all-positive TV ad set to to run in nine swing battleground states.

The ad states:

"Today out auto industry is back, firing on all cylinders, our greatest enemy brought to justice
by our greatest heroes, our troops home from Iraq.  Instead of losing jobs, we're creating them."

The Romney campaign responded with a new internet ad slamming President Obama's economic record.
