Lowell Community Development Director, Gary Carnahan, said some residents are misinformed about a major road project. He says the residents in the Southview subdivision think the expansion of Monroe Street will be up to 100 feet. He said it will actually be 58 feet.
Carnahan said the street project has been in the works before the subdivision was even built, even going as far as designing the subdivision with the future east-west corridor in mind.
Carnahan said it wont be five lanes, instead they will leave out a landscaped medium and just have four lanes.
This street project will cost about 2 million dollars. Half of it will be funded through a federal grant.
