Childrens Festival

Updated: April 17, 2007
The Rogers Public Education Foundation held the first ever Celebration of Children Festival Sunday to fund grants for local teachers. Families could enjoy an afternoon of games and food and all for a good cause. Organizers say the money raised will go towards helping teachers ease the pain their pocket books often feel during the school year. "Special things that they school district can`t afford to do right now because of the huge growth we have in Rogers, so what we`re trying to do here is raise more funds so that we can give more back to the teachers come this spring," said foundation Executive Director Paula Wilson. The event raised money through sponsors, donations and a $5 gate fee. Kids had more than 40 booths to choose from and could play basketball, get their face painted or play any number of games. Organizers say they were pleased with the turnout and plan to make the festival an annual event.
