Siloam Springs eager for new store

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
That money open the door for the 100,000-squarefoot Lowes home improvement store east of Wal-Mart Supercenter. It`s estimated that the city could realize $200,000 annually in sales tax revenue from the store, which would make at least $20 million in sales each year. The board will decide whether to spend money for a new traffic light on U.S. Highway 412 West, a 1,000-foot sewer line to the store and water utilities. Plans for the project and a rezoning request will be voted on at the April 25 planning commission meeting. If it`s approved there, the city board would decide to approve the significant development permit and rezoning May 2. The land at the site is zoned commercial, but because the layout of the store had to be shifted, agricultural land needed rezoning. (Copyright 2006 Newsroom Solutions, LLC)
