Ven Buren Votes Yes on Sales Tax Increase

Van Buren voters said yes on Tuesday to a one cent sales tax.  The city says the tax will fund several projects including new police and fire stations, city parks and a senior center.

Of the the proposed tax, half a cent would go to fund the new facilities and drops off after 7 years, without a renewal.  The other half cent-is a permanent levy to pay for the new officers, firemen and staff.
